What size bike is right for me?

To estimate which mountain bike, electric mountain bike, or hybrid bike is the proper fit for you find your height or, better yet, your leg inseam in the chart below.

To find your inseam, measure the length of your leg from floor to groin.

Now locate the frame and tire size that correspond with your height or preferably your inseam. For example, if your 5' 9" tall, you're looking for approximately an 18" frame with at least 26" tires.

Do I need a 26, 27.5 or 29-inch bike?

The standard for mountain bike wheels used to be 26", but most upper-tier mountain bikes now have 27.5" or even 29" wheels. Larger wheels have faster top speeds and roll over rough surfaces easier than smaller wheels. Bigger tires can therefore be better for off-roading; however, smaller wheels can be much stronger.

What size is a 26-inch bike?

A 26-inch bike is one whose wheel (including the tire) measures 26" in diameter. Referring solely to the wheel size, this isn’t always the best way to discern a bike's size. While some kids' bikes are indeed measured by wheel size, 26-inch wheels are used primarily on adult bikes.

Is a 26-inch bike for adults?

The short answer is yes: 26-inch wheels have been used on adult bikes for years. But most modern mountain bikes have switched to 27.5” and 29” wheels for their superior speed, traction, and rollover power. 26-inch wheels being smaller, stronger, and more universally available, bike enthusiasts often use them for traveling abroad.
